An excerpt of Reliquary nestled amongst the who wore it betters

I have two distinct memories of Cosmopolitan magazine, from the magazine heydays of the early 2000s. One is spending the night at my friend’s house who had a really cool and intimidating older sister that was out of town, so we hung out in her room (which felt kind of like sneaking into the Sistine Chapel to eat Cheetos) and read all the old backissues she had on a very chic wrought-iron garden table. The other is holding Cosmo flat to my legs in a salon while my mom got her hair done so she couldn’t see what I was reading.

These are very fond memories, and now I’ve got a book excerpt in there, which is EXTREMELY COOL TO ME.
